Social Butterfly
I’m still planning to write the next episode in our house game before our third session, but I wanted to share an unrelated bit about my weekend.
One of my players, Darci, had a birthday party on Friday at local pub, the Pour House. We tend to be homebodies, but since it was Darci - and we think she’s pretty swell – we decided to join her for her birthday celebrations. I am so glad we did! We were among the first to arrive (of course), and we got to sit and chat with Darci before too much drinking occurred. As people arrived, I became slightly more nervous. I haven’t really done large group socializing for several years. But since everyone who we talked to turned out to be a nerd, I soon became more comfortable. We had a great time, and I even did some of that “networking” for my job that I’ve been hearing so much about.
Then, on Saturday night, Hilary and I went on a fantabulous “date night” (something we do not do often enough, probably). We went to see Sir Elton John, Live in Concert! Elton was amazing, as expected – a consummate performer. He played almost everything we wanted to hear, including a couple of slightly obscure tunes that I was pretty sure he wouldn’t play (though I was not surprised that he didn’t play my favorite, “Border Song”, because nobody but me seems to know it). He only played one of his abhorrent Disney creations, so I count myself lucky in that. And since we had dinner at my favorite BBQ place beforehand, I think it was a perfect evening.
After all that, I’m exhausted. I think we’ll do restful things today. One thing I have planned is to work on our next D&D adventure arc using Masterplan. If you DM 4E and have not looked at this thing, do yourself a favor and click the link. This program is the best! I should really write up a post about how great it is, and probably will in the near future. And possibly Kureigu will be coming over to just hang out soon. Should be a restful, relaxing Sunday. Hope you all had a great weekend!
